Frou Frou Restaurant

Fashionable tropics in the middle of a hot desert
About

Brief

The atmosphere of this luxurious restaurant was supposed to convey the spirit of colorful Paris, where a holiday reigns every day. So we combined the glamor of nightlife with contemporary art inspired by the original location and authentic details of custom interior items. The restaurant turned out replete, ritzy, and attractive, in the spirit of the YODEZEEN studio.

Planning

Frou Frou has three main areas: a large hall with an open kitchen, a smaller hall, and an open-air terrace. Based on the choice of seating formats, the smaller foyer is perfect for cocktails with appetizers, while the large main space speaks of fine dining. The bar has turned 360 degrees and serves both areas. The architects also took care of a wine room and a separate space for storing refined alcohol.

Plants play an important role in the planning of this restaurant, because they are elements of zoning, and also cover the space with the necessary shade during the day from the hot Arabian sun.

Challenge

Frou Frou faces the design task of blending chic tropical elements with the desert landscape, capturing the festive spirit of Paris. The project entails integration of glamorous nightlife and contemporary art, creating distinct functional zones. Conceptually emulating a desert oasis and realizing intricate design details pose challenges, along with crafting an outdoor terrace that reflects the essence of the azure coast of France, requiring weather-resistant materials and unique design choices.

Concept

In addition to the fact that the project was supposed to be full of colors, textures, and ornaments, the design team tried to recreate a paradise garden in the middle of the desert, where you can rest and cool down not only with cocktails but also with the atmosphere itself. Therefore, the work on landscaping the restaurant has become an equally important component of YODEZEEN’s work. As always, we pay attention to the natural elements and the culture of the area in which we work.

Realization

This commercial project is full of design details and architectural solutions. Pay attention to the ceiling, which the authors decorated with arches in relief decorative plaster of dark-terracotta color. The passageways between the halls were made of lacquered veneer, which adds a French gloss. Under the ceiling, the designers placed accent lampshades, which are made for this project by individual order of the studio.

Going down, let’s take a closer look at the walls. For them, we chose glass in an aged style, with rust and scratches. It balances the shine of marble surfaces and the velvet upholstery of custom furniture. The architects made the open kitchen table functional by filling it with sliding cabinets. And its design in a contrasting strip, made of natural wood, adds dynamics and festivity.

On the floor, we used wooden boards in combination with multi-colored slabs of natural stone. Such a decision creates special zoning and also speaks about the idea of space — to give a holiday on every ordinary day. According to the same principle, we chose large citrus trees, which we placed in the interior. In addition to their stunning appearance, they give an unforgettable signature aroma.

The restaurant boudoir deserves a special paragraph. The concept of rich-colored walls and floors continues here, while the veneer ceiling is polished to a perfect shine. Everything in the Frou Frou project is custom, and this sink and this mirror were created by the YODEZEEN designers. After all, commercial projects need interior signature details that will be talked about and recognized.

The atmosphere of the azure coast of France prevails on the open terrace. Rattan furniture and umbrellas with tassels — everything in the best traditions of the iconic holiday. On the floor, we used a carpet covered with an author’s pattern, which is an unusual detail for outdoor seating, but will attract all the eyes of guests and connoisseurs of modern commercial design.
