About

Brief

Yodezeen studio presents a landmark project — a 1200-square-meter restaurant embedded within a countryside retreat complex near Kyiv. Designed with precision and an eye for storytelling, this space transcends its function, inviting guests to step away from the clamor of urban life into the serene charm reminiscent of the South of France. Starting from a blank architectural canvas of raw concrete slabs, YODEZEEN crafted interior and exterior concepts, transforming the space into a haven of refined rustic elegance.

Concept

The vision for this restaurant was to evoke the quiet sophistication of Provence, where every detail speaks to the harmony between nature and design. Organic textures meet precise craftsmanship, resulting in a rural yet elegant ambiance where light dances through chandelier accents. Thoughtfully integrated accents root the design in its surroundings while elevating the restaurant with a modern sensibility. The design avoids clichés, focusing on the authenticity of countryside aesthetics, blending comfort and finesse seamlessly.

Challenge

The project began as a raw structural frame, offering only concrete slabs as the foundation. YODEZEEN faced the challenge of creating not just interiors, but a fully cohesive architectural and design narrative. Achieving an inviting rural vibe that remained elegant required meticulous material selection, custom design solutions, and a thoughtful approach to spatial zoning.

Layout

The layout balances the fluidity of open-plan design with thoughtfully zoned seating arrangements. Sofas, paired with custom-designed drawers, create naturally defined sections, while carefully varied seating formats add layers of intimacy and function. French-style arches span the walls and ceilings, their curvature softening lines and echoing the classic silhouettes of Mediterranean architecture. This motif carries through the restaurant, seen in the curved details of the furniture, the elegant shape of the travertine-clad fireplace, and the gentle sweep of the plush sofas, blending structure and art.

Implementation

From conceptual planning to the final installation, the entire process was handled by YODEZEEN, with furniture and decor custom-designed based on architectural sketches. Natural materials play a starring role, with travertine, stucco, and oak forming the primary palette. Additional touches like rattan, leather weaving, textured wood, and rope — wrapped around columns and table legs — imbue the design with an earthy honesty, while the inventive use of materials, such as aged mirrors and bamboo, complements the larger vision of refined rural sophistication.

Modern ceramics further accentuate the space, adding an artistic touch. Each piece draws inspiration from the natural world, with forms reminiscent of artichoke flowers, thistle, and the delicate contours of dried poppy seed heads. These organic shapes add a sculptural quality, blending with the floral compositions, greenery, and pampas grass that soften the space. Guided by the art director’s vision, these decorative elements tie the design to nature, creating a cohesive and harmonious environment.
