Stillness is a private penthouse in Dubai created as a sophisticated interpretation of contemporary brutalism. Set against the mesmerising backdrop of the city skyline, the apartment explores the relationship between architecture, art, and material expression. The project was conceived as a highly personal environment where every element contributes to a unified visual language, moving beyond the traditional idea of a residential interior.
Concept
The main concept was to transform the apartment into a private gallery — a framework for displaying art and carefully selected design objects.
Furniture from Henge, EWE Studio, Alexander Lamont, Niamh Barry, DAM Atelier was approached as a collection of sculptural pieces, individually chosen to complement the architectural composition.
Result
The interior is defined by a dark, tactile palette of grey-brown oak, patinated metal, Fior di Bosco stone, Black Pearl onyx, and tinted glass, creating a powerful yet refined atmosphere. Carefully selected pieces enhance the concept through their craftsmanship and sculptural qualities. All everyday functions were discreetly integrated and concealed, allowing the focus to remain on the spatial proportions, artistic elements, and materiality. The result is a timeless residence where brutalist architecture, curated art, and collectible design merge into a distinctive expression of the client’s individuality.
