Creating this hotel, we were inspired by authentic Ukrainian materials and style. In giving this hotel an ethnic design, we tried to modernize Transcarpathian and Volhynian motifs. In the implementation of this project, we used natural materials: stone, wood, and metal for contrast. But the main element is the wetland grass bulrush (cattails): it covers the overhanging walls and steep roof of the hotel in a rich sand-like texture. In the interior we also used classic Ukrainian techniques and materials- such as stucco, aged tree veneer; and traditional Ukrainian ornaments.
Most of the elements are custom and handmade: from bathrooms of clay rocks to hand made stucco to stunning chandeliers made from traditional Ukrainian flutes. Radical use is made of pleated and woven fabric for wall coverings.
