Project Overview
Stillstone is a private desert retreat, designed as an intimate escape for a single family. Set within an expansive and quiet landscape, the project functions as a seasonal destination for holidays, weekends, and large family gatherings. The main architectural challenge was to translate the idea of a contemporary resort into a highly private environment — one that balances openness for social life with a strong sense of seclusion, cultural continuity, and emotional comfort.
Materials
Light natural stone defines the primary surfaces, complemented by warm-toned metal elements and expansive glazing.
The selection avoids visual noise and sharp contrast, focusing instead on tactile depth, softness of reflection, and harmony with the surrounding landscape. Every material is chosen not only for its aesthetic quality, but also for its ability to age gracefully in a harsh climate and maintain a calm, timeless presence.
Result
The architectural concept is based on clarity, rhythm, and controlled perception of space. A system of low horizontal volumes stretches across the site, shaped by deep overhangs, recessed glass, and strong axial relationships. The experience unfolds gradually through movement — framed views, courtyards, and column grids that guide rather than reveal all at once.
