Hidden Ridge is a private residence carved into a narrow cliffside site, designed as a seamless continuation of the natural ridge rather than an object placed upon it. The architecture follows the terrain with quiet precision, allowing the house to disappear into the landscape while opening itself to expansive views.
Concept
The project is deeply shaped by cultural context.
Traditional proportions and ornamental codes from Riyadh are reinterpreted into a restrained, contemporary language. Subtle patterned screens and layered facades reference local architectural heritage, providing privacy while filtering light and embedding cultural identity into the spatial experience.
Result
The architecture responds directly to the complexity of the site. Volumes are staggered along the cliff’s natural contours, with terraces and transitions adapting to the slope to minimize environmental disruption. The result is a composition that feels anchored, calm, and naturally integrated into its rocky setting.
A carefully selected material palette reinforces this approach. Travertine and limestone establish a grounded, timeless base, while copper accents introduce warmth and a subtle sense of refinement. Together, they allow the residence to blend into the ridge during the day and gently reflect shifting light conditions, enhancing its quiet presence within the landscape.
