From breakfast venues and health-focused smoothie bars to fine-dining French kitchens and chef’s table experiences.
YODEZEEN, in collaboration with Atoll Estates, is designing a landmark resort on the Maldives, encompassing three islands and 18 distinct restaurants. Each venue is conceived to translate culinary concepts into tangible, immersive architecture and interiors, creating a journey across the resort’s gastronomic landscape.
Design Narrative
Each restaurant is crafted to offer a unique story while contributing to a cohesive narrative. Some spaces guide guests through bamboo gardens, establishing a soft transition from the natural surroundings into intimate dining environments. Color palettes, natural materials like timber and stone, and carefully designed patterns merge to create an immediate sense of place and atmosphere, turning dining into a multi-sensory experience.
Cultural References
In select venues, cultural inspiration informs every design decision. For example, Ameya restaurant draws on the principles of South Asian temple architecture, with rhythmic columns, symmetrical layouts, and decorative motifs forming a sacred, harmonious space. Floors may feature artistic stone carvings reminiscent of traditional textiles, while contemporary furniture and lighting introduce subtle contrasts, balancing historical references with modern comfort.
Implementation
Across the three islands, YODEZEEN has designed spaces that accommodate diverse culinary and social scenarios. From casual breakfast zones and daytime lounges to high-end dining experiences, each restaurant adapts to its specific function while maintaining visual and conceptual consistency with the overall resort. Architecturally, the restaurants harmonize with the resort’s landscape: sculpted sandbanks and native vegetation create a sense of continuity between exterior and interior.
