Concept
Yumenomori is YODEZEEN’s first completed project in Japan, curated from Europe with a passion for blending cultural depth with contemporary architecture. The name "Yumenomori," which translates from Japanese to "Forest of Dreams," holds profound significance—it evokes a space where the boundaries between the physical and the spiritual blur, offering a sanctuary that intertwines the serenity of nature with the quiet strength of architecture. In our design, this translates into a flow between the built environment and the natural world, creating a timeless retreat that feels both ethereal and grounded.
Details
One of the most striking features of Yumenomori is its rock garden—a symbolic landscape element that draws inspiration from Japan’s reverence for nature. The centerpiece of the garden is a large rock, found in the forests of Japan, which we brought to the site as a talisman. Polished and illuminated, this rock serves as a powerful symbol, visible from inside the house through the expansive glass walls, creating a continuous connection between the interior and the natural world outside.
