Brief

Abril House is a modern private residence located in Barcelona, offering a harmonious blend of timeless architecture and family-oriented design. The total area of the house spans 800 square meters, providing an elegant and spacious living environment.

Layout

The house is strategically laid out to maximize space utilization and create a seamless flow between its various areas. A sophisticated two-story facade greets visitors from the street, blending with the picturesque Spanish landscape. The main living areas, located on the ground floor, embrace an open-concept design that connects the living room, dining area, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. The second floor hosts five generously sized bedrooms, each designed for comfort and privacy. The basement reveals a hidden gem, featuring a luxurious home spa area, utility rooms, and a four-car garage.

Challenge

The challenge in designing Abril House was to balance aesthetic appeal with functional efficiency. Achieving a seamless integration with the surrounding landscape while ensuring optimal use of space posed a key challenge. Additionally, addressing the diverse needs of a modern family, from communal living spaces to private retreats, required thoughtful planning.

Concept

The overarching concept behind Abril House is to create a modern retreat that caters to family needs while exuding timeless architectural charm. The open-concept layout fosters connectivity and natural light flow throughout the living spaces. The choice of materials, such as natural light plaster and stone for the facade, coupled with a sleek metal fence, reflects a balance between aesthetics and functionality.

Implementation

The implementation of the concept is evident in the design of each floor. The ground floor integrates communal spaces, while the second floor offers private and comfortable bedrooms with captivating views. The basement, successfully addressing practical needs, houses utility rooms and a dedicated home spa area. The facade, adorned with a blend of materials, enhances the overall visual appeal of the house, creating an idyllic retreat for first-class living in the heart of Catalonia, just a short distance from Barcelona.
